Karachi: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Fida Janwari has been held accountable for administrative lapses in connection with a family assault case in Defence. The conclusion comes after the completion of an official inquiry into the incident.
The report has advised the authorities to cancel the charges previously filed against the affected family, categorizing the case as “B Class.” It also recommends disciplinary action against four police officers from District Korangi, including Darakhshan SHO Rashid Ali, SIO Imran, and Mobile Officer Aftab Mangi.
Additionally, the inquiry suggests that a new FIR should be registered based on the victimized family’s complaint, targeting two women and one man who are clearly identified in the video footage of the assault. The investigation revealed that those seen torturing the family are close relatives of SSP Fida Janwari.
The report criticizes the SSP for administrative negligence and proposes disciplinary proceedings against him under the Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020. The finalized inquiry report has been forwarded to the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi for further action, following a transparent investigation process.
