ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has honoured PIMS nurse Razia Noreen for her bravery in rescuing a newborn during the recent fire at the hospital’s nursery.
The governor presented Nurse Razia with a cash award of Rs100,000 and an honorary shield at a ceremony held in Islamabad.
The event was attended by minority leader Samuel Pyare and PIMS Deputy Chief Nursing Officer Shazia, among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Kundi praised the nurse’s courage and dedication, saying compassion and service to humanity were among the defining qualities of the nursing profession.
He said Razia Noreen’s courageous actions had earned appreciation from people across Pakistan and deserved national recognition.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan, the governor again commended the nurse for displaying exceptional courage and commitment while saving the life of an innocent newborn during the tragic incident.
He said her actions represented the spirit of dedication and humanity that healthcare workers demonstrate in times of crisis.
