KARACHI: Police have arrested two alleged members of a five-man gang involved in the snatching of cargo vehicles in Karachi, officials said on Saturday.
According to Keamari police, the suspects were identified as Asghar Khan and Saifullah.
Police said a large quantity of tyres worth hundreds of thousands of rupees was recovered from their possession. The tyres had allegedly been taken during a cargo vehicle snatching incident within the jurisdiction of the SITE-B police station.
The suspects allegedly posed as Customs officials to intercept and seize vehicles transporting commercial goods, police said.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered at the SITE-B police station in connection with the incident.
Police officials said efforts were under way to apprehend the remaining suspects, identified as Jalal Khan and Moulvi alias Custom Wala, along with their other accomplices.
