KARACHI: A young man in Karachi was detained for questioning after authorities received a report about an AI prompt asking how to kill someone who had insulted his father, officials said. He was later released after investigators concluded he had been developing a fictional crime story.
According to officials, the prompt was submitted to Claude and described a scenario involving a police officer insulting the young man’s father. The AI system’s safety measures flagged the request, and information was passed from US authorities to Pakistani agencies.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) subsequently raided a residence in Karachi’s PECHS area and detained the youth. During questioning, he said the scenario was fictional and that no such incident had occurred in real life, officials said.
The youth’s identity has not been disclosed. Authorities said he was released after the investigation was completed.
