LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary has directed deputy commissioners to take action against petrol pumps that fail to provide citizens with the benefits set out in the government’s fuel relief scheme.
The chief secretary said enforcement must be carried out without yielding to pressure or recommendations.
Separately, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik reviewed the scheme’s rollout and steps to maintain steady fuel supplies nationwide. Officials said payments had been made to more than 8,500 of the approximately 10,000 petrol pumps included in the programme.
Malik also instructed Pakistan State Oil to keep extra fuel stocks at its depots as a precaution against possible supply disruptions. Officials emphasised coordination among relevant departments to ensure the scheme is implemented on time and petroleum products remain available.
