KARACHI: Authorities have finalized the site for construction of a new control tower at Jinnah International Airport, with the proposed facility planned to stand 200 feet high, sources said.
The new tower will be built near the airport’s main entrance, according to sources.
Officials said the modern control tower is expected to improve the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations, allowing smoother and more timely takeoffs and landings.
The existing control tower dates back to the Second World War and has become outdated over the years, with its structural condition and operational effectiveness declining.
The proposed facility is intended to replace the aging infrastructure with a modern air traffic control tower capable of better supporting flight operations at Karachi’s main airport.
