KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) board has approved significant administrative changes. The Chief Operating Officer role and department have been removed. The General Manager (GM) Security position is now under the CEO, and GM Works has shifted to Human Resources. GM Passenger Handling Services has also been eliminated.
GM Kapil Kumar is now Acting General Manager, while Zulqarnain Mehdi is Special Assistant to the CEO, in charge of all ground operations, including water transport and airport services.
This organisational restructuring, part of a board-approved reform plan, aims to streamline PIA for efficiency.
Separately, PIA announced an expansion of its London operations, increasing weekly flights to seven from October 27. Five flights will run from Islamabad to London, and two from Lahore to London, enhancing daily connectivity and offering greater travel flexibility for passengers.
