Russia, Pakistan wrap up ninth joint ‘Druzhba’ drills in Cherat

ISLAMABAD: Russian and Pakistani forces have concluded their ninth joint Druzhba military exercise in Cherat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Russian Embassy said.

The drills involved Russian troops from the 201st Military Base, stationed in Tajikistan, and members of Pakistan’s Special Forces. Participants demonstrated coordinated counterterrorism operations in rugged terrain, using equipment that included unmanned aerial vehicles.

Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev attended the closing ceremony, alongside commanders and senior military officials from both countries. Following tactical demonstrations on Oct. 1, Khorev congratulated the troops and praised the coordination between the contingents.

He said the exercise enabled the two militaries to share experience and traditions, adding that joint drills help strengthen ties between Russia and Pakistan.
