ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly denounced repeated attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport that reportedly caused casualties and injuries among civilians.

In a statement posted on his X account, the prime minister praised the Saudi armed forces and coalition forces for intercepting multiple ballistic missiles. He commended their vigilance and professionalism, saying their efforts were crucial to protecting civilians and securing the Kingdom.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia’s leadership and people, describing the two countries as brotherly nations.

He said Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security remained firm under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the recent decisions of its Strategic Political and Defence Committee.

The prime minister also underscored Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its citizens and protect its cities and critical infrastructure against attacks.

Calling for an immediate halt to the violence, Shehbaz urged the Houthi militia to stop its attacks on Saudi territory.

He reiterated that Pakistan would continue to stand alongside Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom faces security threats.
