PHC seeks progress in cases of missing KP minister, MNA

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday heard petitions seeking the recovery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan and MNA Fazal Muhammad, who have been reported missing.

A bench comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Fahim Wali was told by an investigation officer that geo-fencing had been carried out and efforts to locate the two men were continuing. The court noted that an FIR had been registered in the MNA’s case.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Bashir Khan Wazir, said a USB drive had been handed to Chamkani police and that the minister’s brother had recorded a statement. Assistant Advocate General Mohammad Adnan Sher, however, told the bench that the petitioner had not provided the USB. The lawyer also complained that the investigation officer in the minister’s case had not appeared in court.

Justice Ijaz Anwar expressed concern over the disappearances, questioning what the situation meant for ordinary citizens if even prominent figures could go missing without a trace.

The lawyer asked the court to hear the petitions alongside similar cases scheduled for November 3. The bench adjourned further proceedings until that date.
