ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that citizens do not need to file a police report to apply for a replacement Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).
The authority issued the clarification after a social media user asked about the requirement, which NADRA said is often misunderstood. It said there is no policy requiring applicants to submit an FIR before a lost-card replacement application can be accepted or processed.
Reporting a lost CNIC to police may help guard against possible misuse, NADRA said, but it is optional. Applicants can request a replacement at a NADRA registration centre or through the Pak ID online service. An FIR copy is not needed to explain the application.
