LAHORE: The Lahore High Court’s Multan bench has continued to suspend the arrest warrants issued for former federal minister Shireen Mazari in an anti-corruption case. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh adjourned proceedings until November 3.

Mazari’s lawyer, Syed Muzammil Hassan Bukhari, argued that the Anti-Corruption Department had earlier cleared her of the allegations. He said investigators found no land records or official documents in her possession and described the alleged tampering with government records as unfounded.

According to the counsel, the case relied on a supplementary statement from an official recorded under Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. He also noted that Mazari was arrested on May 21, 2022, and later released on the Islamabad High Court’s orders.

After hearing the arguments, the judge left the warrant suspension in effect.
