LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed Khan has approached a family court in Lahore seeking dissolution of her marriage with her husband, Atiq Riaz.
The court has issued a notice to her husband, directing him to submit his response by November 25.
The court has also fixed November 25 for the next hearing of the khula petition.
Sanam Javed is currently serving a sentence at Kot Lakhpat Jail in connection with cases related to the May 9 incidents.
Her lawyer, Barrister Khadija Siddiqui, confirmed the legal development through a social media post.
Meanwhile, Sanam Javed’s legal team has appealed to media organisations, journalists and social media users to respect her family’s privacy and refrain from unnecessary speculation about the matter.
