Islamabad: An accountability court of Islamabad rejected the NAB insistence to issue an arrest warrant of Shahid Khaqan Abbassi in the LNG reference while the court accepted former premier one exemption from the appearance.
The AC judge Azam Khan heard the LNG reference against ex-premier Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and others.
Shahid Khaqan counsel Zafar Ullah filed one day exemption from the appearance pleas of his client as he is abroad.
Judge questioned that was the accused not needed court permission? trial is running against him and was his name is on the ECL? and asked what legal options we have in this scenario.
Abbassi counsel opined that after completing all the legal requirements federal government allowed him to go abroad.
The NAB prosecutor insisting to reject his exemption from appearance and issuance of his arrest warrant said that the accused left the country without the permission of the court adding that the accused sent his exemption from appearance petition after going abroad.
On the court orders, Abbass counsel presented government permission order issued to his client. The court rejecting the NAB insistence to issue arrest warrants of Abbassi approved his exemption from appearance petition.
