ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif lashed out at the government ministers and said that they have no proper argument regarding electronic voting machine.
Earlier, a scuffle erupted during the session of Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs between the members of the ECP and Federal Minister For railways Azam Swati over the Electronic Voting System.
During the session of Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, reform regarding I-voting for overseas Pakistanis has also been rejected.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Azam Swati accused Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of taking money during the polls and making fun of the Parliament adding that such institution be set on fire.
Meanwhile, government representatives and ECP members staged walkout from the meeting in protest.
The standing committee on parliamentary affairs rejected use Electronic Machines for next general election in the absence of representatives of ECP and government members.
On the other hand, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has expressed resentment over the allegation and summoned a key session on Monday to discuss this matter.
Sources told that special secretary ECP Zafar Iqbal will brief the members.
Federal minister Azam Swati has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of taking bribes.
The minister criticized the commission for making fun of the Parliament.In a protest against the statement of Azam Swati, the ECP officials walked out of the meeting.
Reacting to the statement, opposition parties expressed their concerns over accusing ECP of taking money.
PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said that government representatives threatened the national institutions whereas we criticized the hidden negative elements.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also expressed its reservation over accusation against the election commission.
