CHITRAL: Wildlife authorities have arrested poachers illegally hunting the national animal Markhor in remote areas of Chitral.
According to Wildlife Department officials, tools and equipment used in hunting Markhor have been recovered from the possession of the accused. The arrested suspects have been fined Rs 2.5 lakh under the Wildlife Act.
According to officials, poachers used to sell rare animal horns at exorbitant prices as they are also used to make valuable rings, including jewelry.
