Khanpur: Water level in Khanpur dam is lowered to dangerous limit of 1910 fit which has rung the bell.
According to experts supply of water from the Khanpurt dam to twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi is feared suspended. The arrival of water in Khanpur dam is 194 cuseC and exit is 121 cusec.
The dam is supplied water of 100 cusec daily to Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
It is to mention here that owing to less rains, the country facing shortage of water.
As per the meteorological department, the average record of rains during March and April this years historically remained low.
According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA), overall scarcity was 38 percent from an average expectation from water sources of dams and rivers from across the country during the month of May.
The scarcity from the river indus and Tarbella dam is 13 percent. the river Kabul 46 percent, the river Jehlum and Mangla dam is 44 percent, the river Chenab 48 percent and this shortage in the other sources remained 66 percent.
