Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Friday announced that re-election of Chief Minister Punjab will be held on July 22 until then Hamza Shahbaz will remain Chief Minister Punjab.
The top court’s three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf petition challenging Lahore High Court yesterday verdict in which it was ordered to recount the votes excluding the votes of dissidents.
The CJ said that we will not use word acting for Hamza Shahbaz instead we will use such word that will be acceptable for both the parties.
The honourable, Umar Atta Bandiyal remarked that talk regarding the judiciary is most easy adding that judges can’t reply.
The CJ said that the government has to respect the opposition adding that a lot of harm has incurred in National Assembly with the absence of the opposition.
Justice Aijaz Ul Al-Ahsan has asked the PTI counsel Baber Awan, why you and your candidate are not on same page while the court ordered Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi to contact Imran Khan and ask him what point of view he has on the matter while the court took a short break of half hour.
The PTI counsel after break apprised the court about Imran Khan instructions while he said that Imran Khan has accepted Hamza Shahbaz CM until July 17.
He said that Imran Khan has said that IG police, Punjab Election Commissioner and Chief Secretary follow the law.
