Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) General Secretary Asad Umar on Tuesday said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by assisting the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government set a side its own decision.
Addressing a presser in Islamabad on the postponement of local bodies election in Islamabad, the PTI secretary general PTI, Asad Umar said that the government has a willingness to run away from the general elections.
The PTI leader said that the number of union councils were changed by the interior ministry in Islamabad for local bodies elections.
Asad Umar said that his party will move to court on the postponement of local bodies election in Islamabad.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the local government elections in Islamabad Capital Territory.
Now, local bodies elections will be held on 125 union councils instead of 101. The ECP pronounced the reserved verdict.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja remarked that delimitations is being carried out in Punjab for the third time adding that the number of UCs have been increased.
The CEC said that the Mayor will be elected directly and we have been thrown into difficulty. Who knows it the number of UCs be decreased again.
A five member bench of the Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja announced the verdict in a case regarding the matter in Islamabad today.
The elections were scheduled to be held on 31st of this month.
