Islamabad: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Aftab Sultan on Tuesday tendered resignation from his post.
Sources said that the Chairman NAB had reservation over limiting his powers. Under the NAB amendment act the powers of the anti-corruption body were reduced.
The chairman NAB tendered his resignation in his meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif today. While the PM has accepted his resignation.
It is said that Aftab Sultan has refused to work on whims of someone other. The chairman apprised the premier that he can’t work in these circumstances.
Sources said that the NAB chairman had pressure for some people arrest but he refused these arrest.
After retirement of former chairman NAB Javed Iqbal, Aftab Iqbal had taken charge of the NAB on July 21, 2022. He has been chairman Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The PM had appointed the chairman NAB for period of three years.
