LAHORE: Police broke into the residence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Zaman park after an operation was launched on Saturday to clear the area as the former premier left for Islamabad to attend hearing in the Toshakhana case.
Sources said Canal Road, Dharampura, Mall Road underpass and other areas have been closed for traffic while shipping containers have been placed around the Zaman Park. Internet and mobile phone services have been suspended in the area.
Footages showed a team of the anti-encroachment has removed all camps set up by the PTI workers alongside the canal road and in Zaman Park. Nearly, 10,000 security personnel are taking part in the operation.
The action has sparked clashes between the Imran Khan’s supporters and police, leaving seven people injured including a policeman. Sources said police have arrested nearly two dozen workers of the PTI.
