Counting Of Votes Are Underway In LG polls Where Misconduct Reported In 1st Phase of Elections In Sindh

Hyderabad: Counting of Votes are underway in the local government seats where allegations of misconduct had reported in 15 districts of Sindh in first phase of the local government polls.

The polling started at 9 am and continued till 5 pm.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had taken necessary steps to ensure fair and transparent elections this time.

The move aims to address the concerns and allegations of irregularities in the previous elections.

Moreover, the Supreme Court (SCP) and the ECP have given directives to conduct the poll.

The polls will include seats for Chairman, Vice Chairman, Member District Council, and General Members.

A total of 109,687 voters were registered to

cast their votes, with 59,310 male and 50,377 female voters in 15 districts.

The local government polls were conducted with the help from 15 district returning officers, 26 returning officers, and 52 assistant returning officers.

A total of 81 polling stations had been set up across the districts, including separate stations for men and women as well as combined stations.

A total of 275 polling booths were set up for the polls in 15 districts of Sindh.

Among these booths, 140 were exclusively designated for male voters, 135 for female voters, while the remaining 275 booths were combined and open to both genders.

People’s Party and PTI workers were engaged in a brawl at union committee 28 of Hyderabad during local councils by election.

The workers of two rival political parties during polling at Ward-1 of the UC-28 treated each other with punches and blows after a heated argument. The workers also torn apart each other’s clothes.

The brawl started after former district president of the PTI Ali Hingoro entered in the polling station. The PPP workers objected over the PTI leader’s entry in the polling station.

Policemen posted at the polling station for security were failed to control the violence. A heavy contingent of police reached to the spot to disperse the fighting workers of rival parties and control the situation.

Re-polling is taking place in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Badin, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qamber-Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Khairpur and Shaheed Benazirabad.
