Islamabad: In the history of Pakistan, the hajj pilgrims found to be less in numbers as inflation has created hurdle for following fifth pillar of Islam.
Owing to expensive hajj expenditures, thousands of people could not even file hajj applications, in this scenario the government has decided to return back the leftover quota to Saudi Arab.
Earlier before Pakistan used to demand Saudi Arabia to raise its quota as per the last census of 2017 from 1, 79,000 to 2, 20, 000.
Pakistan got complete hajj quota of 1, 79,000 after many years, however, due to inflation this quota could not be consumed.
Under the government hajj scheme overall quota of 89, 606 was fixed while less than 9000 applications from the fixed quota received.
Additional 28, 679 applications were received on the government quota of regular scheme of figures 44, 190. Whereas additional applicants of the government regular quota are being sent to hajj without any draw.
