Karachi: New elected Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab and Deputy Mayor Salman Murad will take oath of their offices today (Monday).
The Oath taking ceremony will be held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah Polo Ground at 5 pm.
Provincial Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Aijaz Anwar Chohan will take oath from Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
On June 15, Pakistan People Party (PPP)’s Murtaza Wahab had won Karachi mayor elections by securing 173 votes, while Jamate Islami (JI) candidate Hafiz Naeem Rehman remained on second position by getting 161 votes.
As many as 33 chairman’s of PTI not attended the voting session.
In the same way Salman Murad elected as deputy mayor Karachi. He also got 173 votes, PPP’s 173 votes included it’s allied parties of PM L- N, 14 votes , JUI-F 1 vote.
The voting process of Karachi mayor and deputy mayor elections had started at 11 am after which gates of polling station, Karachi Arts Council closed.
In city council of 366 members , 173 of PPP and it’s allied parties members present in the council.
While the JI ‘s 161 members are in attendance.
On the other hand 33 members of PTI not arrived in polling center established at Karachi Arts council.
