Islamabad: Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani has approved NAB amendment ordinance 2023.
Under the NAB amendment the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been given powers to arrest the accused at a time of an inquiry.
The oridnance also has given rights to Chairman NAB to issue arrest warrant of accused over not cooperating with the anti-corruption body.
Arrested accused can be given in the NAB custody for 30 days remand instead of 14 days. The NAB has also been given authority to arrest the accused during the investigation of any case.
The NAB accused has to prove its innocence by himself as an accused can’t approach to any court during any inquiry against him.
After federal cabinet approved the proposed NAB amendment then acting president signed the amendment.
