Islamabad: Asifa Bhutto Zardari PPP leader has said for the past two decades, polio has become a threat to future generations of Pakistan, We all should work for polio free Pakistan.
Message on World Polio Eradication Day Asifa Bhutto Zardari said that 53 positive environmental samples and 4 cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan during the year 2023, of which 3 are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Sindh. She said that it is very important for us to vaccinate every child under 5 years of age against poiio, and to ensure that this disease does not spread in our country so that the future of our children is not at risk. Asifa Bhutto Zardari further said that the Pakistan People’s Party-led government in Sindh worked tirelessly to eradicate polio and due to their efforts Sindh. Asifa stressed the need for producing polio vaccine within the country and hoped that Pakistan-China Memorandum of Understanding would help start manufacture of vaccine in Pakistan as well. Emphasizing upon child health being the collective responsibility of all, she called for making a determined effort that no child should miss out polio drops
