SC issues today’s hearing order announcing elections to be held on Feb 8

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued order of today’s hearing announcing the general election date of February 8 which was agreed by President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi and the Election Commission of Pakistan.

A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faez Isa comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amin Uddin Khan heard the holding of general elections within 90 days.

Chief Justice asked after presentation of a document provided by the ECP and President house, are all agreed on it? has any one objection on it? while Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan said that there is no any issue left on the matter.

The CJ also ordered the caretaker government to ensure holding of the general elections across the country on February 8

While after written of order of today’s hearing the CJ disposed off the case.

He also ordered the government for taking action against those who spread hopelessness regarding holding of the elections on the media.

In its order Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that If Allah will it “Inshallah” the general elections will held on February 8, Thursday across the country.

The SC order reads that the President and the ECP have given date of holding of elections for entire country.
The federal government and provincial governments agreed that the elections will held without any hurdle, it adds.

The order continues that the attorney general also didn’t raise any objection over the matter.

The CJ said that the applicant Munir Ahmed is a suspected person and there are many questions on him.

Justice Athar Minallah said that the SC knows how to implement the verdict.

The CJ said that action must be taken those media element who spread hopelessness on the media regarding the elections , the order added.

The CJ said that if someone is not able to take decisions then he should go home, the order reads.

If media creates doubts and speculation on the elections it will also violate the constitution adding that this independent media we will see on the violation of the court orders.
