Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reserved a verdict in the case of removing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman from the party slot.
The five member larger bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.
The counsel of founding chairman PTI appeared before the court while a petitioner in the case Khalid Mahmood also attended the court.
The chairman PTI counsel apprised the court that we have submitted a record of the intra-party elections in the ECP.
Now this case should be ended, he added. He said that legally the matter has been solved as a new chairman of the PTI has surfaced.
“You are providing an opportunity to Khalid Mahmood to file petition against new party chairman as well.” the CEC said.
The petitioner Khalid Mahmood said that no one accepted the intra-party elections adding that founding member of the party Akbar S Baber also didn’t accept the intra party elections.
The petitioner insisted the court to pass an order in writing that a convict can’t have any office bearer of the party.
The CEC said that the PTI chairman Imran Khan didn’t contest the party election and we can’t say anything on that.
