Islamabad: Senate on Friday approved a resolution with a majority to postpone upcoming general elections owing to security threats in Khyber Pakhtun Khawa and Baluchistan.
The resolution was put forward by senator Dilawar Khan while the resolution was approved with majority of votes.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Senator Afnan Khan opposed the resolution.
The resolution reads that the law and order situation in Baluchistan and KP are bad.
Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam- Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Mohsin Dawar have faced attacks on their lives.

“Aimal Wali Khan and other political leaders have also received threats” the resolution reads further.
Conducive environment for holding of the elections should be provided, the resolution adds.
Terrorist activities are going on in Baluchistan and KP, the resolution said.
On the other hand the health department is hinting at the spread of the coronavirus, the resolutions reads.
The resolution demanded equal right to smaller provinces for running the election campaign.
It demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to suspend election schedule of February 8. While schedule be renewed after providing conducive environment for the elections.
The resolution was put forward by senator Dilawar Khan.
