Lahore: The surfacing of pneumonia cases continued to rise in Punjab as eight more children died from the disease.
After the deaths, the total number of deaths surmounted to 296. Whereas as many as 792 cases have been reported so far.
The number of affectees have been counted to 18,040.
The rise in cases is attributed to the prevalent winter season and air pollution, particularly smog.
Pneumonia, caused by viral infections, affects the lungs and can range from mild to severe. Young children, especially those under five, are more vulnerable to the disease.
