Islamabad: The banks will remain closed throughout the country on the Pakistan election day, February 8, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) notified on Tuesday as the country braces for the most crucial polls in its history.
A notification issued by the central bank stated that the bank holiday has been announced in light of the notification of February 8 as a public holiday to enable the voters to exercise their right of franchise freely and conveniently.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on February 8, 2024 (Thursday) being public holiday in the country as notified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to enable the voters to exercise their right of franchise freely and conveniently in General Election, 2024,” it read.
