MAMBAI: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has denied reports that he played a role in the release of former Indian Navy personnel arrested on espionage charges in Qatar.
In a statement, Shahrukh Khan’s manager Pooja said in a message on his X (formerly Twitter) account on behalf of the actor that the claims of Shahrukh Khan’s role in the release of ex-Indian naval officers released from Qatar are baseless. Similarly, Shahrukh Khan is also happy that these people have come home safely.
It should be noted that in the past few days, the leader of India’s Hindu extremist ruling party, BJP, and former member of the Rajya Sabha, Subramaniam Swamy, claimed that Shah Rukh Khan was behind the release of the naval officers.
It should be remembered that Qatar had arrested Indian naval officers on charges of spying for Israel and sentenced them to death in October last year. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the decision of the Emir of Qatar to release these officers and return them to the country
