Rawalpindi: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has ordered to remove name of Awami Muslim Leauge (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid from exit control list Exit Control List (ECL).
The LHC has ordered removing the political stalwart in the ligt of the ministry of interior report.
The court has sought the secretary interior a report regarding measures taken for removing the name of Sheikh Rashid from no fly list till 2 pm in the morning hearing.
The secretary interior appeared before the court on its order in the hearing of Sheikh Rashid petition to remove his name from ECL.
Sheikh Rashid name was put on the ECL in the 190 million pound case which has been removed now on the report of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the court orders, the secretary interior informed the court.
Earlier in the morning, a divisional bench comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Waqas Rauf heard the case.
Additional secretary interior and section officer ECL appeared before the court on its order while it was informed the court that the secretary interior could not attend the hearing as he was busy in the Supreme Court.
The officers of the interior ministry apprised the court the former interior minister name was put on the no fly list on the NAB letter back in June 23 last year in the 190 million pound case as the NAB wanted to get information from Sheikh Rashid.
Over which, the court said that two persons have been indicted in the 190 million pound case and Sheikh Rashid not involved in the case.
The interior ministry officers said that the coming cabinet will decide the matter.
The court ordered you are being given time of 2 pm to take measures to remove his name from the ECL.
