Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday barred the government for blocking of mobile SIMS of non-filers on a petition of a private cellular company.
Chief Justice of the IHC heard the petition filed by the cellular company against closure of mobile phone SIMs of half million non-filers.
The petitioner counsel Salman Akram Raja adopted the view that the amendment made in the law is against the constitution article 18 which is against the basic right of independence of business.
The counsel added that no legislation can be done in the clash with the basic right given in the constitution of the country.
He said that the government with amendment with the law can not get authority of blocking mobile phone SIMS.
He apprised that the mobile phone companies can incur a whopping loss of Rs 1000 millions annually if mobile SIMs of half million subscribers were blocked.
The court stopping the government for blocking of half million non filers mobile SIMS sought reply from the respective parties till May 27.
