Video of Paratha fried in diesel fuel goes viral

Chandigarh: A video from India has gone viral, showing a roadside food vendor frying a “paratha” in what he claims is diesel fuel.

In the three-minute-and-thirteen-second clip shared on X and covered by various media outlets a cook at a dhaba in Chandigarh mentions using diesel for frying, stating that it enhances the taste.

The video depicts the cook pouring fuel from a tin can, confirming it to be diesel when questioned.

He proceeds to deep-fry a paratha until it turns dark, then proudly presents it to the camera.

Despite claiming 35 years of experience and producing 200 to 300 parathas daily, the parathas are likely fried in reused oil.
