KARACHI: The Senate Standing Committee on Commerce has assured Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry representatives that issues of the business community would be resolved on priority basis.
The Standing Committee meeting was held at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s head office on Thursday with chairperson of the committee Senator Anusha Rehman in the chair.
Addressing the business community, Senator Anusha Rehman said under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif law and order issue of country’s mega city was resolved and with collective wisdom of the government and its allies problems being faced by city’s business community would soon be resolved.
Karachi is country’s industrial hub and Stock Exchange is located here which sets right direction of our economic stability, Anusha Rehman said due to wrong doing of the previous regime there was no way to approach IMF for another bail out package.
She assured that government was taking concrete steps to get rid of the IMF permanently. Pakistan needs political stability as no country will become a developed nation without it, she added.
Senator Talal Chaudhry said all problems being faced by the country were inherited to us from previous regime and there is a dire need to face this situation by adopting long term policies.
Talal said the prime minister is focussing to resolve energy issues of the country and hoped that by adopting prudent policies all crisis would overcome with collective wisdom.
Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala briefed the Senate Committee about business community issues and asked for their resolutions on priority basis.
The meeting was attended by other members of Senate committee Senator Muhammad Bilal, Senator Hamid Khan, Senator Sarmad Ali, Senator Amir Walliuddin Chishty while president KCCI Iftakhar Ahmed Sheikh, Senior VP Altaf A Ghaffar and other office bearers were also present on the occasion
