Abducted Karachi man found dead, cousin,  friend arrested

KARACHI: Police have recovered the body of Zainul Abideen, a young man who was allegedly abducted after returning from Saudi Arabia to visit his parents, from Steel Town, arresting his cousin and the latter’s friend in connection with the murder.

According to police, the two suspects were allegedly involved in the killing, and the victim’s body was recovered based on information provided by them.

Police said the victim’s cousin, Faisal, confessed during interrogation to killing Zainul Abideen. The suspects allegedly stuffed the body into a sack and dumped it at an isolated location, with a piece of yellow cloth tied around the sack.

The victim’s father told police that his son left home on a motorcycle on October 14 but never returned. After failing to locate him, the family lodged a kidnapping case at Steel Town police station. He said Zainul Abideen had been working as a tailor in Saudi Arabia and had recently returned to Pakistan to spend time with his parents.

Following his disappearance, the family received a call from the alleged kidnappers demanding Rs700,000 for his release. The father said they took the ransom money to the location specified by the callers, but no one arrived to collect it.

He further alleged that the suspects left his son’s slippers and mobile phone outside their home and threatened to kill him.

During the initial investigation, police visited the location provided by the alleged kidnappers and recovered a severed hand. The remains were sent for DNA analysis, while investigators also pursued technical leads to trace the suspects.

Police have since arrested the two suspects and recovered the victim’s body. Further investigation into the case is under way.
