Ministry Notifies 3-Year Job Extension for AC Isb Judge

Islamabad (March 08, 2018): The government of Pakistan on Thursday approved extension of three years in service of the accountability judge of the Islamabad,  Muhammad Bashir.

He is conducting hearings into the NAB references filed against the Sharif family, Ishaq Dar and other high profile cases.  The approval was given by the President Mamnoon Hussain.

“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 (g) and (h) of National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been pleased to appoint Mr. Muhammad Bashir, District and Sessions Judge (BS 21) as a Judge Accountability Court-I, Islamabad in his own pay and scale on deputation basis for further period of three years w.e.f. 10-03-2018 to 12.03.2021 or until further order, whichever is earlier,” states a notification issued today (Thursday) by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The decision came after  federal Law secretary on Wednesday assured the chief justice of Pakistan that the federal government would extend the job tenure of the Islamabad accountability court-1 judge Muhammad Bashir before the expiry of deadline on March 12.

The assurance came after the apex court took notice of the government’s failure to extend the judge’s tenure.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took notice of the failure to extend the tenure of Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir, who is hearing the corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
