Rawalpindi: Security forces successfully neutralized three terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij group in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday. Among the eliminated terrorists, two were identified as Afghan nationals.
The operation resulting in the elimination of the Afghan Khawarij coincided with a statement by ISPR Director General Lt-Gen Chaudhry, who disclosed that security forces had conducted over 62,000 intelligence-based operations by 2025. These efforts have led to the elimination of 1,667 terrorists, of which 128 were Afghan nationals. This highlights the active role of terrorist groups operating out of Afghanistan in orchestrating attacks within Pakistan.
ISPR stated that security forces detected suspicious movements near the Esham area as the group attempted to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In what was described as a “precise and efficient engagement,” two militants were killed. Among them, one was identified as Qasim, an Afghan national previously associated with the Afghan Border Police.
In a separate operation in Tank, security forces also eliminated another militant linked to Fitna al-Khawarij. Who was identified as alias Abu Dajana also an Afghan national.
The ISPR highlighted these incidents as further evidence of the ongoing involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorism targeting civilians and security forces within Pakistan.
The military urged Afghanistan’s interim government to take meaningful steps towards effective border management and to prevent the use of its territory for activities by groups like Khawarij.
The ISPR emphasized that the Taliban administration is obligated to curtail these cross-border threats and address the participation of its citizens in acts of terrorism on Pakistani soil.
