He said Pakistan’s sacrifices and contribution against war on terror are matchless.

The Interior Minister said Pakistan was engaged in fight against terror not to please or dismay any country but to safeguard its own interests.

To a question about former President General Musharraf, the minister said that if an elected Prime Minister can be punished then why a dictator cannot be held accountable.

Referring to former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, the interior minister said that he can give interviews to TV channels but cannot appear before the court [where he is facing charges of treason, among others].

The government has been directly and indirectly criticising the ‘unfair’ treatment meted out to the country’s last military ruler after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister by the Supreme Court on July 28.

Talking to the media after a visit to the NADRA headquarters, Iqbal said that no country in the world has sacrificed as much as Pakistan in fighting terrorism.Iqbal said that Pakistan’s commitment to battling terrorism does not require validation by any other country.

“Pakistan has and will continue to work with the international community for eliminating terrorism,” he added.
