Air Force Day Being Observed Today With National Zeal

Islamabad: Air Force Day is being observed today (Tuesday) with national zeal to commemorate the dexterity and valour of the defenders of air space of the country against Indian aggression in September 1965 war.

In the 1965 war, the valiant Pakistani pilots despite limited resources not only annihilated Indian air aggression but also inflicted humiliating defeat on India through unprecedented skill in the warfare and insurmountable courage.

The PAF’s Muhammad Mahmood Alam, commonly known as M.M.Alam, shot down five Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk. 56 fighters in less than a minute.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) observed 07 September as Martyrs’ Day at all PAF Bases throughout the country.

The day started with special Du’aa & Quran Khawani for Shuhada of 1965 & 1971 Wars and those who laid down their lives in action since creation of Pakistan.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, PAF was the Chief Guest during a Martyrs’ Day Ceremony held at AHQs, Islamabad.

During his address the Air Chief paid tribute to all heroes of PAF who responded to the nation’s call with unparalleled courage.

“PAF is alive to the evolving situation in region & remains fully prepared to defend sovereignty & territorial integrity of Pakistan”, said the Air Chief. On this special day, he extended reverence to generations of Kashmiris who have laid down their lives fighting for freedom.

He assured Kashmiri brothers & sisters of resolute commitment & steadfast moral, pol & diplomatic support. To pay homage to martyrs, the Air Chief laid floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument & offered “Fateha”. PSOs, officers, airmen & PAF civilians attended ceremony.
