MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) announced on Tuesday a reward of Rs10 million for information leading to the capture of four wanted leaders from the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
An official notice stated that the reward would be awarded to anyone providing credible information resulting in the arrest of these individuals. Authorities also assured full confidentiality of the informant’s identity.
The individuals named in the notification are Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Umar Nazir Kashmiri, Mehran Arshad Khawaja, and Sardar Aman.
The AJK Home Department has instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the prompt execution of the reward scheme and to coordinate efforts to apprehend the suspects.
Recently, an audio recording purportedly featuring leaders of the JAAC, including Shaukat Nawaz Mir and Khawaja Mehran, emerged on social media platforms.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry shared the clip, highlighting its significance as a serious security concern.
In the recording, voices believed to belong to JAAC leaders are reportedly discussing the current situation in Rawalakot and outlining plans related to potential unrest in the region.
According to claims associated with the circulating audio, certain actions were allegedly dependent on an escalation of clashes in Rawalakot, with potential implications for other areas such as Muzaffarabad and Mirpur.
