MUZZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Syed Iftikhar Gillani has appealed to Rawalakot residents to preserve peace, saying his government is working to address local concerns.
Speaking to reporters during a visit, Gillani said he had come to assess conditions on the ground and identify practical ways to resolve issues facing the community. He also acknowledged Rawalakot residents’ contributions to the Kashmir freedom movement and said development had been a recurring public demand in recent elections.
Gillani warned that disruptions to daily life were affecting students’ education and making it harder for patients to reach medical care. He argued that actions blocking access to schools and hospitals could not be considered peaceful protest, and criticized reports of three hours of gunfire.
He said no governance problem in Azad Kashmir justified unrest that endangered public order or harmed residents.
