LAHORE: Post detainment of senior leader Aleem Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Wednesday summoned high-level meeting at 4:00pm today.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, provincial law minister Raja Basharat and other senior officials will also attend the meeting.
The provincial top brass will decide future strategy of the Punjab government.
On the other hand, Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was independent to arrest any political personality or government official but the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not adopt conduct like Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) or Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He reiterated that PTI has also demanded PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to tender his resignation after a reference was filed against him by NAB.
Earlier, the anti-corruption watchdog confirmed arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Aleem Khan over charges of possessing offshore companies.
Aleem Khan, who is serving as Punjab’s Minister for Local Government and Community Development, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case registered against his assets beyond income.
It was emerged earlier regarding six more offshore companies possessed by the senior leader of the ruling political party.
The development was confirmed by the NAB spokesperson who also confirmed his production before an accountability court on Thursday (tomorrow).
The spokesperson also added that officials of the anti-corruption watchdog will seek remand of the senior politician in upcoming hearing.
