RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been placed in temporary judicial custody as part of the November 26 protest case, following orders from the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court.
She appeared before the court, requesting permission to leave as her lawyer was engaged at the Supreme Court. Prosecutor Zaheer Shah noted that, under Section 351 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the accused remains in judicial custody.
Upon stepping out of the courtroom, Aleema Khan was taken into custody by female police officers and escorted back inside. The court subsequently instructed that she must not leave its premises. Shortly after, her lawyer Faisal Malik arrived.
Later, the court approved two bail bonds submitted by her and set her free. The court also imposed Rs10,000 fine each on eight witnesses for using delaying tactics in the case.
It may be recalled that the bail bonds were submitted by Aleema Khan during the previous hearing in compliance with the court’s order.
The court has previously issued multiple arrest warrants for Aleema Khan in the case.
The court, on the request of the defence counsel, adjourned further proceedings until December 1.
