PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur made his return to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Sunday after being reported missing under mysterious circumstances.
On Saturday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that stringent action would be taken against individuals involved in the violent demonstrations, specifically naming Gandapur as a key figure allegedly leading the unrest. Naqvi, speaking alongside Inspector General of Police Islamabad and IG Punjab at D Chowk, revealed that 564 protesters had been arrested, which included 120 Afghan nationals. He also confirmed the detention of 11 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officers, who were found in civilian attire and armed with tear gas canisters, masks, and rubber bullets.
The situation highlights the growing volatility in the region, with law enforcement ramping up efforts to restore order following the chaos. Gandapur’s return to the Assembly is likely to intensify discussions about accountability and the response to recent events, as both government and opposition leaders continue to grapple with the fallout from the protests.
