Ali Zaidi Announces to Kick-off Clean Karachi Campaign from Today

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi has announced to initiate “Lets Clean Karachi” campaign from Sunday (today) with coordination of several renowned companies, celebrities and sportsmen.

The campaign which will last for two weeks and emerged as per instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking place under the supervision of Frontier Works Organization (FWO).

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhter will also be overseeing the operations.

Around 1000 tractors and 200 dumpers have been deployed to pick the trash from dumping yards, drains, schools and parks.

Volunteers from every municipality ward will become part of the cleanliness campaign while 48 spots have been identified in the district west and 70 destinations have been selected in the district east and south

Considering the deteriorating condition of the metropolis especially after being lashed by monsoon rains, PM tasked Ali Haider Zaidi to clean the city of widespread rubbish before Independence Day (14th August).

Several celebrities including likes of Shehzad Roy, Ali Zafar and musical band Strings had announced to coordinate in cleaning of the city, followed by cricketers Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali.

Similarly, numerous industrial and business bodies are participating in the long-awaited drive to uncover the beauty of Karachi that has been concealed with piles of trash in various areas.
