Alizeh Shah Opens Up About Harassment, Industry Bullying, and Exploitative Practices

WEB DESK: Pakistani actress Alizeh Shah has openly shared her struggles within the entertainment industry, addressing issues such as harassment, media bullying, and unfair treatment that she claims have resulted in online trolling, mockery, and her being blacklisted.

Revisiting a 2021 incident at Bridal Couture Week, where she appeared to stumble on the runway alongside singer Shazia Manzoor, Shah now alleges that the fall was no accident. She claims Manzoor intentionally pulled her down, saying, “She grabbed me and dragged me to the floor,” and shared a video of the incident with her followers.

Alizeh further accused Manzoor of repeatedly trying to trip her during the event and later mocking her in the company of TikTok star Jannat Mirza and host Juggan Kazim. She also revealed that industry insiders have questioned her character, citing her “bad image,” yet without any real intention of offering her work. “If you don’t want to cast me, why call me to discuss my image?” she questioned.

Addressing a recent 2023 allegation that she assaulted a co-actor by throwing a cigarette, Shah denied the claim, asserting that she was actually pushed and slapped first. “I was in shock,” she said, adding that the incident was not recorded on camera despite her requests to review footage.

Shah emphasized the importance of consent and boundaries in her work, stating, “I don’t allow anyone to touch me unless it’s part of the scene. You must ask for my permission first,” and suggested that her firm stance on personal boundaries has made her a target for producers trying to push her out of the industry.

The actress also voiced concerns over delayed payments, revealing she has sometimes waited three to four months for her cheques, having to repeatedly follow up for her rightful earnings. She clarified that she is only willing to work where she feels respected.

Since her debut in the film Superstar and her rise to fame with the drama Ehd-e-Wafa, Alizeh Shah has been in the limelight—not only for her acting talent but also for speaking out against the injustices she faces within the entertainment world.
