American woman Onija transferred to Jinnah Hospital due to concern over her mental health

KARACHI: Onijah Andrew Robinson, an American woman who has been in Karachi for several months in search of her Pakistani lover, has been transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) due to concerns over her mental health.

As per detail, Robinson has been exhibiting incoherent speech and experiencing swelling in her hands and feet. She is currently under psychiatric evaluation at JPMC’s Department of Psychiatry, where doctors are assessing her condition.

Her son, Jeremiah Andrew Robinson, recently stated that his mother suffers from cognitive impairments and has a history of mental instability. He revealed that Onijah was originally scheduled to return to the US in October, but she refused to leave Pakistan despite her family purchasing a return ticket for her.

Records indicate that Robinson was arrested in South Carolina in 2021 for “ENTERING PREMISES AFTER WARNING,” with a bail bond set at $465. It remains unclear whether the bond was paid.

On January 29, a two-member team from the US Consulate met Robinson at Karachi Airport. However, they informed authorities that they could not forcibly remove her from Pakistan, citing legal limitations.
