Karachi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) successfully thwarted a significant drug smuggling operation from Karachi to Qatar, seizing 310 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice, with an estimated value reaching millions of US dollars.
The ANF’s Port Control Unit (PCU) at Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited conducted the operation based on confirmed intelligence. A container destined for Qatar’s Hamad Port was intercepted under suspicion. Upon thorough inspection, it was discovered that the container, ostensibly carrying molasses and jaggery as declared cargo, was being used to conceal the smuggled narcotics.
Out of the 1,100 drums contained within the shipment, 15 were identified as holding liquid methamphetamine cleverly disguised by being mixed into the contents to evade detection. Advanced equipment, specifically a Rigaku handheld analytical machine, was employed during the physical inspection and confirmed the presence of the concealed liquid methamphetamine.
It was revealed that the container had been booked from Noor International, situated on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi, with Al Naffay Trading registered as the recipient in Qatar. ANF authorities stated that investigations are underway to uncover and apprehend all people connected to the smuggling network, with legal measures already initiated.
